Engagements

Three ways to start. One of them is free.

A free consult, a scoped assessment, or an alignment engagement. Each one says what is included and what you leave with. The fee for a visit is written in the scope before the visit is scheduled. This page does not list a rate.

01

Free consult

No fee. Email or phone.

The first conversation. You describe the rough flow. Robert Foster replies with a defined next step, or a clear reason the work is not a fit.

  • A direct reply from Robert Foster
  • A yes, with the shape of a visit, or a no, with the reason
  • No account, no form, and no visit booked in order to find out it is not a fit

02

Assessment

Scoped in writing before it is scheduled.

A look at the operation you already run. One job is walked from request to done, through the people, the access, and the records that touch it.

  • A written scope you can accept or decline before anyone arrives
  • What is already sound, what is split, and the sequence in which to join it
  • Security, infrastructure, and the software bill on the same picture

03

Alignment

Scoped in writing before it is scheduled.

The work after the assessment, when the seams should actually close. Owners, cadence, and records your team can run.

  • Named owners for the duties that stall the week
  • A cadence that changes the work, not a calendar of updates
  • A handover. The next week runs without a consultant in the meeting

What is not included

These engagements do not add headcount, and they do not pretend a new tool is the fix. A few things operators ask for are neighboring problems, and they are not what is being sold.

  • A 24-hour incident retainer. Readiness work builds a week your team can run. It does not answer the phone at 2 a.m.
  • A fractional DevOps or SRE placement. If the platform work has no owner, naming that owner comes first. A hire is a later decision.
  • A published rate card. The free consult has no fee. Everything after it is priced in the written scope, because the operation in front of us is the scope.
  • A client logo, a testimonial, or a count of companies served. Those are not collected, and they are not shown here.

The services are the places an operation comes apart. The method is how a visit moves from the map to the handover. Questions that come up before you write are on the FAQ.
